Rafa Garcés
Hi there, Rafa! Could you briefly introduce yourself and tell us what you do?
Hello, hello, hello. My name is Rafa. I'm a product designer from Albacete, now based in València. Currently, I am working as a design system designer for the future PayFit design system. I love long walks, digital culture, and learning new things.
How did your journey to becoming a designer begin?
I studied graphic design and landed my first job as a graphic designer trainee at a small agency in my hometown. I believe it was around 14 or 15 years ago. There, I learned a lot about website design, especially how to handle client requests. After that, I continued to progress, studying, changing jobs, always focusing on digital services. Gradually, I started to feel confident in the work I was doing.
What do you enjoy the most about working as a designer?
What I like most is when I try to define the logic that will help me build a scalable solution. It's a back-and-forth process that keeps me focused for hours.
What do you hate the most of it?
Corporate politics. People who spend so much time and energy on company politics really bother me. These are the kind of people who would sell their grandpa just to receive a promotion.
Could you share a tip with other designers?
Don't focus so much on tools. Instead, try to work more closely with developers and the business.
