Lauren Evans
Hi there, Lauren! Could you briefly introduce yourself and tell us what you do?
👋 I am a UX leader with a specialty in research. I love working with and studying people and of course technology. Outside of my computer, I am raising humans, horses, and chickens!
How did your journey to becoming a designer begin?
Math and statistics were my jam. I went to school for it and I started out as a data analyst before I knew what UX was. A leader saw something in me and I joined a UX team as a UXR focusing on quantitative research. I fell in love with the field and went deep. I ventured out of UX research and started managing/leading UX designers and UXRs.
What do you enjoy the most about working as a designer?
I love the innovation. The chance to do something different and have an impact on people's lives in a meaningful way. Sure working in enterprise software can be dry but the impact can be huge. Plus working in tech… research is scrappy, that is a good time.
What do you hate the most about it?
I found sometimes that designers can struggle with the “team” aspect of the gig. The team aspect is so crucial for success and often we get too lost in an idea/vision. While we need to be leading with the North Star… we can not forget our team.
Could you share a tip with other designers?
Aim to add value, not your ego. Be humble be hungry.
